How to Wash More Laundry with Less Energy

by Guest Post on May 25, 2011

If you are in the business of saving time and effort, then front load washers can help you to do your laundry without using as much water, detergent, or energy. Front load washers have been around for a while, but they have become extremely popular as of late because of all of the benefits that they provide to those that use them. Let's go over some of the reasons why these machines are blowing away the competition when it comes to making laundry day a piece of cake.

Most of us are familiar with the vertical style of the washing machine. To operate this type of washer, you must put a large scoop of detergent in the drum, turn on the water, and then load the clothing. Once the water has filled to the correct level, the agitator clicks on it and starts to rustle and bustle with the clothing. This type of washing machine has been the standard for most people in this country for years, but front load washers are now taking the nation by storm. The biggest reason for this is that while some of the washing stages are similar to that of a vertical washing machine, the front load washers are designed to do a quality cleaning job without using a lot of energy. How do front load washers perform better by using less you might ask?

The way that front load washers are able to do more with less is because of the overall design of the washing machine. Instead of having a vertical drum that has an agitator in it, front load washers are built on a horizontal axis. This horizontal axis completely changes the way that the washing machine functions and operates. Instead of having an agitator that has to move heavy clothing that is submerged in water, the front load washers use the simple force of gravity to accomplish the same task. Front load washers simply turn the drum in order to use gravity to swish and tumble the clothing in the machine. The free force of gravity is the working agent as it cleans and rubs out stains contained within a load of laundry. This ultimately is what saves you energy during the cleaning process.

Since front load washers use gravity, they require much less water as the tumbling of the clothing effectively wets each article of clothing for cleaning. Also, since the drum is just rotating, less energy is consumed in order to run the wash cycle. With the agitator missing from the front load washers design, more clothing can be washed at a time, which means that you can literally wash more with less energy compared to the vertical washing machines of yesterday. Through a simple design change, front load washers are able to make a real difference for homeowners by saving them money on their utility bills and allowing them to get more done by using less. If you want to start saving some energy and get more done at the same time, consider front loading washing machines as your next big appliance investment.
