How to Install LED Aluminum Profiles
by Guest Post on Dec 19, 2018
Are you looking to create your own custom light fixture with LED aluminum profiles? One of the main benefits of LED aluminum profiles is that you can cut them to whichever size that you want making it easy to install them almost anywhere.
Whether it is under the cabinet, for deck lighting, or for landscape lighting, the aluminum profile keeps the LED lighting free from dust and safe from other elements that could damage them.
With manufacturers offering different sizes cutting the aluminum profiles is simple and anyone can do it without the need for enlisting a qualified technician. Just make sure you consider the cap on either end when making the cut. The first step to cutting will require you to insert the cap on one end and then place the cover on the aluminum panel.
A connection wire coated with both red and black is simple to use since you can tell which is negative and which is positive. If you are using wires that don’t come with different colors, ensure you test the polarity first before making any permanent connections.
You can do this by first plugging into a power supply and touching the connection area of the LED strip. Once you get it right, install it the right way into the LED aluminum profile. Viola! You have a complete light fixture that is ready to be installed anywhere you like.
There is more than one way of installing your LED aluminum profile light fixture. Many people prefer using mounting clips that can be screwed in place. Another way is to use a double-sided adhesive or silicon. This has the advantage of providing a clean installation.
However, if you were to change the position of the LED aluminum profile, the double-sided adhesive may leave behind some marks.
Among their many applications, LED aluminum profiles are often used on staircases, on the walls as well as under kitchen cabinets. If you want to illuminate your countertop with LED aluminum profiles, choosing the correct position is crucial.
Aim to bring the aluminum profile as much to the front of the under the cabinet as you can as this allows it to light up the countertop directly beneath. Fixing it at the far end of the cabinet will not provide a full illumination since the light will mostly shine on the wall.
The great thing with LED aluminum profiles is that the light is diffused providing an even glow in the kitchen. Ensure you pick the right color temperature of between 2700 and 2800 Kelvin. This allows you to still be able to see the full colors of the vegetables and food as you prepare your meals.
