Electric Fireplace Inserts
by Monika on Dec 12, 2011
Electric fireplaces are the modern counterpart of the traditional wood burning fireplaces. They come with a small heater that generates up to 5000 BTUs of heat. The flickering lights give an illusion of flames. The size of these flames is adjustable. However, some of the warmth might escape through the chimney and the room does not get heated properly. An electric fireplace insert will prevent the hot air from escaping. No maintenance is required. However, this needs to be installed professionally and this will heat a medium-sized room immediately.
Available options for your electric fireplace inserts
If you have chosen to convert your existing wood or gas burning insert with an electric fireplace one, there are many options available that will give the effect of your ideal flame. Several log electric fireplace inserts are available with almost lifelike flame technology that looks like a wood fire and has a glowing bed of embers. Different models with LED technology are available, have realistic looking hand finished logs with an inner glow that look almost natural, black flames, working glass front doors, and multifunction controls that permit people to switch on the insert while sitting in the comforts of their favorite chair or sofa. To make it look even more realistic, many manufacturers add rolling, pulsating log sets with ember beds and dancing flames. All these utilize energy efficiently and can be operated with or without heat. Freestanding mantel packages are also available for most inserts. If you want something extraordinary, install one of the units that come with a purifying air treatment system. These models combine great flame effects with an air cleaning system that not only provides comfort and warmth but a healthier environment to live in. These require little or no maintenance.
An electric fireplace is like an electric heater and looks similar to a fireplace that burns coal, wood or natural gas. These fireplaces are replacing the conventional fireplaces as they plug into a wall and can run on just a `flame only’ setting. They can also be used as a heater. The advantages of these electric fireplaces are that they don’t require any chimneys, are portable and do not require any remodeling of a house or wall to be installed. Electric fireplace inserts are easy to install and cost-efficient too. These will fit into almost any room accenting plan and also combine the choice of a good budget. The sets cost approximately 3 cents an hour to operating without turning on the heating unit and 12 cents an hour when the heating is turned on. This is a minimal cost for warmth and households can save extensively on their utility bills. Besides, the units are versatile, beautiful to look at as they add to the cheerful ambiance of a fire in a room, and easy to install.
