Luxury Interior Design Can Breathe New Life Into Any Home
by Jason Mills on Jul 11, 2019
Our homes often bear the brunt of everyday life just as much as we do and for those who live in busy households, the need for redecoration is often at the forefront of the mind. Heavy traffic areas can start to look tired quite quickly and if it has been many years since redecoration or so much as a lick of paint has been applied then it could well be time to breathe some new life into your home.
If you are struggling for inspiration or are just in need of a helping hand when it comes to planning your new style then employing some interior designers to help you attain a luxury home might be the best option. The costs of using interior design companies or freelancers vary but often the value for money achieved is worth every money.
If you do opt for choosing an interior design company to work with you on the design of your home then it is worth following these simple tips.
-
Take Recommendations
It is well worth taking recommendations from friends and family when it comes to interior designers. Most towns and cities will have enough companies to choose from and the difference between a good and a bad one can be stark. If you do not know anyone who has used an interior design company then be sure to do your homework and look for reviews on various platforms including Google, Yelp, and Facebook.
-
Sound Them Out
You want to work with a company that will listen to what you want. The latest trends and fashions may be great but if they don’t fit with your style then you need your designer to understand that. Explain what you like and ask them for suggestions – if they take on board your ideas then that is a good sign.
-
Check The Portfolio
Good designers love showing off their work so be sure to check out the portfolio of the designer you are using. If they don’t have a portfolio to show you then it is probably a good idea to steer clear and find another designer.
A good designer will be able to help with all aspects of your home design. From lighting design to artwork and from furniture to flooring options – you may need specialists for very specific aspects but most designers will have a good range of connections to call upon.
If you are buying furniture or accessories direct from the designer then asking to see samples is always a good idea – also if they have a showroom you may be able to take inspiration from here too.
Whether you opt for using an interior design company or not, there are plenty of reasons to at least visit their showrooms and have some conversations – as well as using online social sites such as Pinterest and Instagram to get as much inspiration as possible – have a good idea of what you want and you could end up with a wonderful luxury living space.
